A refreshing Panaché is a must after a run on a hot day!

What’s more befitting than enjoying a refreshing Panaché at a French bistro in alfresco, to celebrate the completion of a hard run and a beautiful day.

I have just finished a tempo run, a workout that have not done for ages. Instead of going straight home as usual, Silviu and I decided to stay out and enjoy the rest of the beautiful day by having a drink in the bistro near our flat. Since I don’t like the bitterness of beer, I have ordered Panaché, the popular French drink that contains usually c. 1% of alcohol. Similar to shandy, it is a mixture of beer and carbonated lemonade (or soda e.g. 7-up). In French, the word ‘Panaché’ literally means a mixture.

Chin chin!

Bonjour! Je m'appelle Claudia. That was the extent of my linguistic skills when I first came to France in 2016 from Singapore. My French is much better now (it has to after 8 years!) but I am still waiting for the day when I can dream in the language and not mix up the genders of inanimate objects. This blog is about my life in France: food & drinks, different regions, gardening, my work as as an English teacher, French bureaucracy, different French regions. I have recently moved from the Parisian suburbs to Grenoble, the flattest city in France but surrounded by mountains. I hope to share more about my adventures in Grenoble with you.
